Sinful Davey was a John Huston movie made in 1968, originally scored by John Barry but his score was replaced by one by Ken Thorne. Tapes are apparently lost following a flash flood at a storage facility near CTS Bayswater in London. Just wondering if the John Huston estate might have tapes for the Ken Thorne score and/or it's John Barry replacement. It could be worth enquiries being made by specialist labels. The rejected Barry score is, with Mister Moses' one of the leading Barry grails. |

Thanks for your reply, Steven. The radio interview you mention was from August 1991. It was in two parts, I missed the first part because we were away on holiday but I did hear the second part where he mentions Sinful Davey but can't rememberl all the detail that you recall so thanks for that. I am, of course, clutching at straws. John Barry's score has almost certainly gone forever but while there is even the remotest chance of a copy existing somewhere I feel it is worth mentioning on discussion groups such as this. |
