Hello, Robert O. Ragland wrote some of the best 70ies action and dramatic scores e.g. GRIZZLY, Q: THE WINGED SERPENT etc. Although not nearly as popular as Jerry Goldsmith or John Williams he really left his mark with carefully constructed an orchestrated (mostly by Jack Hayes) action music - very rhythmic and complex compositions very similar to Jerry Goldsmith's typical 70ies scores. JAGUAR LIVES is no exception here - great Main Title music, for the action/pursuit scenes great action scoring. This really is a score that is worth to be released on CD format - There was a Japanese LP release once, but it was marred by some disturbing dialogue inclusions. I do not know which company holds the music rights, but I really really hope that maybe INTRADA will be able to release Ragland's score for JAGUAR LIVES on CD format one day - especially as they already have released Ragland's 10 TO MIDNIGHT score on their label. What do think about trying to release Robert O. Raglands marvellous 70ies score on CD format especially JAGUAR LIVES (maybe coupled with GRIZZLY)? |

I will second this request. Grizzly and The Supernaturals are the Robert O. Ragland scores that I want most, but Jaguar Lives! is easily next in line. 10 to Midnight was comparatively a low-hanging fruit of a release since the original album master was readily available and simply licensed through MGM, but I am very glad that Intrada brought it to CD. |

One Robert O. Ragland score that seems quite possible for Intrada if elements are available is Mansion of the Doomed. The film is a Charles Band production that now probably falls under whoever owns Empire International for licensing, as do a number of Richard Band scores released by Intrada. It is certainly not Ragland's best, and it might be too darkly experimental and lacking in variation for most, but I think it would make a most worthy Signature Edition release. |
