With Paramount now seemingly allowing any and every soundtrack to be released from their vaults, and with many Mancini works getting attention by the specialty labels, I figured it would be natural for Mancini's score for The White Dawn to finally get the treatment it deserves. A really good suite was recorded for an RCA LP: |

The motion is carried! The atmospheric THE WHITE DAWN is my most favorite Mancini score -- and is something I've certainly been watching for, ever since Paramount at last opened their vaults to the labels. But in case for whatever reason(s) the full score never makes it out, that wonderful 12-minute suite was reissued on a 1993 Mancini CD, THE GODFATHER AND OTHER MOVIE THEMES (RCA 09026-61478-2). Although that medley has kept me going for decades, I'd still be among the first to order a release of the actual soundtrack recording. |

I am sure that some label will fill this hole in the Mancini ouvre at some point. I am grateful to intrada and all the other labels that have gifted us with so many wonderful scores by Mr. Mancini. As Mr. Thaxton has so often bid us, "all things come to those who wait." |

It's just a matter of time my friends... a matter of time. I really like the suite from The Concert Sound Of Henry Mancini, the RCA LP from around 1972. |

From reading the new biography on Mancini, it seems that there were a lot of revisions and unused music for this film. It sounds like an awesome, all encompassing, release. |
