This is an excellent western soundtrack by Quincy Jones that I haven't seen mentioned here. A complete release in great quality would be a dream come true. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to license this given that the LP was released on the RCA label, but Intrada's releases of Charade and Hatari! seemingly give hope in this regard. |

It should be pointed out that the RCA re-recording was considerably reworked from the score as appeared in the movie. A legitimate premiere edition of the LP program would be fine, but combined with the original tracks would be even better. But, considering Roger's comments on the musical archiving at Columbia Pictures, suspect that only the LP master may still be available. |

I did not know that about Columbia's music catalog archiving. I guess that also doesn't bode well for Grusin's ...And Justice for All and Absence of Malice. As for Mackenna's Gold, I'd settle with just the LP presentation if it's all that is available. But, it does scream for a complete release of film and LP tracks. |

Oh, it has been mentioned a couple of times before. But you are quite right, this is a score that deserves a legitimate CD release. And I would be happy to setlle for the original LP program. ![]() |
