Intrada Soundtrack Forum

I really surprised that this score isn't mentioned more since it's one of Schifrin's oscar nominated scores. I own the LP but I'm sure there is music not included on the LP. Besides, it's due for a CD release.

If Intrada does not release any Schifrin this year then it will be two years since they released any Schifrin and that's really sad.

You know, it's not as if they say "Well we should release something from X composer since it's been a while!"....rather, "let's see if we can release X score. We can? Great, let's do it. It'll be released....when it's done".

Charley Varrick would be a good one. I'm looking for a release of all of the Airport soundtracks and I would love to have an original recording of the Aminityville Horror score.

Two other quality, unreleased Schifrin scores that just came to mind are St. Ives (Warner Bros.) and Hell in the Pacific.

He turned in one of the more effective scores for the show Night Gallery (I would love a set of scores for this series) which consists of material used for Dark Intruder, and his somewhat experimental work for the CBS telefilm Welcome Home, Johnny Bristol is also fairly good.

Films that I have yet to see but liked the music from what I've heard via YouTube are The Master Gunfighter and Prime Cut (CBS).

Whether it is funky, dissonant, purely melodic or just plain eerie, Schifrin consistently made music that does much more than serve the pictures well.

Actually John Lasher released the LP program of the original VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED LP, but split over 2 different CDs: the 1987 release which tripled it (in truncated form) with THE FOUR MUSKETEERS and THE EAGLE HAS LANDED, and the remaining material from the LP on a classical CD called CONTINUUM.

My enthusiastic vote would be for THE PRESIDENT'S ANALYST. It might not be long enough by itself for a CD (I've never timed its music while watching the picture); and there could be dealbreaking licensing issues. (It has at least three songs, and the most important of them -- Barry McGuire's "Inner Manipulations" -- is heard on the DVD but got replaced on the earlier laser disc.) But this one is SO much fun and is my second-favorite Schifrin score from the 1960s (after COOL HAND LUKE). Hey, maybe my second-favorite Schifrin ever!

Things were always a bit strange with John Lasher's labels. I remember titles which were scheduled to be released by him on LP (like Goldsmith's NIGHT CROSSING, Arnold's DAVID COPPERFIELD and Tiomkin's GREAT CATHERINE) which never saw the light of day.
