Although I really do like the Aleph recording of this classic score, I think an "original film tracks" presentation of the score would be incredible. The score was a trend-setter for "haunted house" movies, not to mention it was Oscar-nominated.
I just watched this not long ago. The music, composed by Lalo Schifrin is a gem through and through.
Along with the hopes this is released some day... I would also strongly recommend his AMITYVILLE II: THE POSSESSION for another release. The film is a quasi-prequel of events for the James Brolin/Margot Kidder film released in 1982. Lalo Schifrin's music is even more spectacular. More complex, more exciting and even a stronger emphasis on the chorus. Critics hated the film, but I think it stands up to this day. Along with the strong performances of Jack Magner and James Olson... director Damiano Damiani moves things along in creepy fashion. Mr. Schifrin's score adds to the atmosphere greatly.
Yes... original film tracks would be great... please add the prequel???
