Is there a realistic chance that we will ever will get a release of this score? It seems a bit strage that such a recent score of an A list composer remains unreleased.

My fingers are crossed for this being one of the two Varese "Limited Edition" titles announced tomorrow.

This would be the first Horner score in over 15 years to not get a CD release. Not counting the CBS News theme he did, which isn't a full score.

Even that flight show he scored got released.

Oh well, at least Black Gold got released. It would have been a real shame if that didn't see the light of day.

Lokutus is probably referring to The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. That was sold only as a download as far as I know. But it did get a release nonetheless, which unfortunately cannot be said about For Greater Glory.

Amazon.com has those CD-R's "on demand" for "Karate Kid", so no -- there ws a CD for that. It just wasn't pressed.

Is there some sort of decline in Horner sales (for new scores) causing labels to shy away?

I would like to think that Varese had this release planned all along, but other factors held it up a bit. If Horner didn't sell all that well, then they probably would have given For Greater Glory just a 1,000 copy limited run on CD and left the rest of the sales to downloads.

Regardless, I'm glad Varese is giving this title a release.
