I've been thinking about the two Alan Silvestri scores that I would most like to see released on CD.

The first I would like to see is American Anthem. It is an exquisite score that blends all of Silvestri's compositional styles at the time with some hints to what he's done in the 2000s. Just the complete score would do.

The second is the eccentric synth score to Cat's Eye. Very catchy at times, as one would expect from 80s Silvestri, and never before released on CD. Here I think the inclusion of the theme song sung by Ray Stephens is an absolute must.

Cat's Eye's LP was a Varese release, so it'd probably fall on them.

Would love a complete release of AMERICAN ANTHEM, love the way Silvestri both incorporated ochestral and synth.

This is my first post on the forum. I don't know if I should open a new topic for this question - I found this topic the most appropriate to ask this...

In the 'Cat's Eye' movie there is an unknown electro/funk track played on the car's stereo (when the man who tries to quit smoking lights a cigarette in his car and gets discovered). This track isn't included on any official soundtrack releases and isn't mentioned in any movie database entries about the movie.

I don't know where I could ask this as I didn't find any contact address on Alan Silvestri's website.

I can't help you with that, hightype. But, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that simple rhythmic source piece was done by Silvestri himself.

Thanks for the reply! I've kind of suspected that... and wanted to ask the composer's management (and maybe ask them if there is more Alan Silvestri music in the same style) but didn't find any contact info so the next best solution seemed to ask on a filmscore forum.

However, this particular clip isn't as important to have identified as my basic reason is to find more music in this particular style (early-to-mid 1980s, instrumental electro/funk/fusion) which I really like and is quite hard to find...

The name of Paul Hardcastle is often mentioned in this style but he's a pop/jazz composer... I have listened to Jan Hammer but his style is a bit different... Harold Faltermeyer of 'Axel F' fame comes to mind, I have yet to check his albums out... I wonder if it's offtopic to ask for some more suggestions?
