Continuing with the Arnold themes today with Predator, I also thought of this movie, which was released by Varese way back. In fact, I think there are copies available still sealed but its been OOP for quite awhile. Anyone familiar with this score to this overlooked and underrated mid-80s action film? I personally think it's great, and since the studios have been on an Arnold kick as of late, with La La Land's reissuing of Commando and Intrada with Predator twice in a year, this would be a great consideration! |

I would like to see RED HEAT get a release. Not as good as James Horner's COMMANDO but one missing from my collection none the less. |

I have the Varese CD that I bought for $5 from SAE just last year. You should be able to get it rather cheaply from the Amazon marketplace. I'm not sure if there is anything worthwhile missing from the 30-minute Varese album, but sound quality is pristine. |

Director John Irvin's thriller certainly has it's moments. Stylish, extremely well photographed by Alex Thomson, along with a slick score by several composers (Chris Boardman, Tom Bahler and Joel Rosenbaum amongst others). If you see it... pick it up. Good action score. Several of the composers on this film had just come off THE COLOR PURPLE. |

Yup, it is an action score with balls and has a main theme that is sure to put hair on your chest. From what I know, I would say that the Varese album is at least a good representation of the score. It is out of film order, but it works very well as a listening experience. |
