Intrada Soundtrack Forum

This was recently remastered, but I've heard that there was some score elements that were left out. Is it true (or at least is there some credence) that the original master tapes are missing from the vaults (is it at Canon perhaps?) Not sure if Jim Cameron would get involved at all? Also heard rumblings that Brad Fiedel has acknowlegded that he felt this score wouldn't sell, so he didn't authorize it's entire release?

Silva slightly touched up the album masters for a reissue of the score.

From what I understand, they could not find the actual master tapes, so the album is the only material we're likely to have for the forseeable future.

I know Brad Fiedel was at least consulted on the CD, but I don't know if James Cameron was involved in any way.

Back before the interview, I sent Fiedel a list of labels (we had a phone conversation, and he talked about two or three scoes he wished were released) with the likely hood of which would be best and which won't aren't going to cover certain types of scores, etc. Maybe he's looked into it and contacted them -- time will only tell.

I recall mention Intrada being a likely candidate.


I often find it surprising how many known composers don't know about hte large online communities or labels, etc. I make sure to fill them in and envite them to join us, of course.

I know they reckon that the missing tapes are whats needed to reproduce such a score but surely with tech today they could extract it from other sources. Ive just bought Fright Night by Brad Fiedel and have to say that his music is so powerfull.
If a expanded T2 was made they could make it a 2 disc set quite easily add the songs from the film. Or even just squeeze the whole lot on one disc like masters of the universe. The first piece played in the film where the cars appear on a busy highway is just amazing. This would be a true classic like predator.

The interesting things about this is that, for me, so much of my enjoyment of Fiedel's score is tied in with the film's sound design. One truly enhances the other - and that's very rare. They are part of the same tapestry. I found myself missing the sound design when listening to Varese's score CD - and that never, ever happens with me (except, on occasion, with Star Wars.)
