Yeah, I'm one of those people.

I've adored this soundtrack since I first saw the film about 5 years ago. It'd just be fantastic to have an expanded release of the score--original or re-recorded. I was crossing my fingers that it'd be released for Herrmann's centennial, but looks like we've run out of luck with that.

Hopefully it'll be released in the near future.

Terry Cloth (another poster) is another one who really wants this to happen. With all of you in regards to this. Brilliant score by Bernard Herrmann.

A single reissue would make my day, remastered of course. But if the complete score is available, I should buy it in a flash !

Bernard Herrmann in an article had commented that he hadn't felt this way about a film since THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR. Both had that timeless nature to it, and after seeing the film for the first time had tears in his eyes. He immediately told DePalma about the instrumentation he wanted to use including the use of harps, organ, and voices.

This score certainly has a very VERTIGO feel to it, and for me, DePalma must of been influenced by Francois Truffaut when his Hitchcock homage THE BRIDE WORE BLACK hit the screens.

I don't know why, but I strongly suspect Obsession will be the 'Whopper' coming from Varese in December.

Somewhere, I think, FSM... stated that the Varese title is going to be pricey... Another box set? For the life of me I cannot remember who or what thread it showed up in (getting old and the memory thing is going)...

Regardless of the nay-sayers... I have always found the club releases to be worth a look and a little something for everyone.

OBSESSION... A terrific movie. A superb score.

Now that FSM has announced a CD of IT'S ALIVE, I really wish that Intrada would consider releasing what many feel is the "last great Herrmann score," namely OBSESSION. I believe that the stereo tapes reside at Sony, or so I've been told. We've never had a complete CD of OBSESSION. The two previous CDs from long ago contained the LP's 38 minute edit, which is missing about half an hour of music from the score.

Fantastic news! Can't wait to hear the entire score, for a change. I'm sure that Tadlow will do their customary superb job with the rerecording.

As for the reissue, it would mainly appeal to me if it is complete. I'd be less interested if it's the standard 38 minute edit.

James and crew are on a tear with these recordings. We are truly lucky that there are people able and willing to fund these things in this day and age.

It is good to see that the original tracks will also be available to at least some extent if the sound of this particular re-recording is not to my personal liking.
