I just recently watched this 23-minute animated short, and I would love to see Newman's music released on disc to hear in remastered sound. It seems to be very obscure as it wasn't released on any home video format outside of Japan - but it was leaked onto the internet here: http://www.veoh.com/watch/v142675976R7MrJSC Here's all the music-related credits from the film, which includes some very familiar names: Original Score Composed by David Newman Conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen Performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Filmharmonic Series Produced by Lyn Benjamin and Richard Kraft Scoring Mixer: John Kurlander Synthesizer Programming by Marty Frasu Scoring Consultant: Krystyna Newman Music Preparation by Jo Ann Kane Music Service Music recorded at the Newman Scoring Stage, 20th Century Fox Esa-Pekka Salonen appears courtesy of Sony Classical |

Hmmm, Newman doing Scheherazade, eh? A quick aural sampling makes me think of, if anything, Heavy Metal....which is never a bad thing. 23 minutes = great addition to a 45 minute score. |
