Just to bring up the old ghost. Anyone going to groan yet ?!? ![]() Love the 20th Anniversary release, but this score deserves a Complete release, and would make a great companion piece to Alien (Also 1979, Goldsmith, and one of my favorite Intrada releases). |

Oh, so agreed. And the timing would be perfect after the FSM releases of Star Trek 2 and 3... and LaLa's Star Trek 5. One can hope for this. |

Is there really a lot more unreleased from ST:TMP that merits a whole new presentation? Is it more than just the reworkings of Courage's theme? I feel like the 20th anniv cd is a marvelous presentation of the score. Do we really need more? |

I'm secretly hoping this is one of La-La Land's Comic-Con titles but I doubt it very much. ![]() Re: the music, this is just a rough ballpark figure, but I'd estimate that there's at least 20 minutes of music from the film plus another 20 minutes of alternates (Goldsmith's original take on the material) that could be included. |

On the 20th Anniversary edition, we have 64:50 in total, of the 140+ minutes of score recorded. About 20 minutes of that material consists mostly of earlier cues for The Enterprise drydock and launch, Spock's arrival, and various Vejur sequences in the third act. A hint of Goldsmith's earlier main theme can be found on the Star Trek V score when we first see Scotty in Drydock. Among the hilights missing are the warp test sequences (one before the Enterprise ended up in the Wormhole, the other when Spock arrived and helped Scotty fix the Engines), the Enterprise's arrival at the Vejur cloud, where they went to Red Alert, and successfully deflected the first Energy Bolt, as well as Kirk's discovery that Vejur was "V O Y A G E R. Voyager. Voyager Six?", and of course the short cue for the destruction of Epsilon 9. |
