I didn't know the Hollywood CD is a re-recording ... if so, than yes, please release the original score one day.

Just as he did with many of his soundtracks Goldsmith recorded the original soundtrack for "The Ghost and the Darkness" for the movie first and then re-recorded the music for the album released under Hollywood Records. However, watching the movie, we realized that the music heard in the film is much richer in terms of percussion and vocals than that heard on cd. For the CD, both the percussion and vocals were softened, perhaps to give the listener a more romantic experience. The album released under Hollywood Records always frustrated me to present a softer version of the original recording and leave out many interesting tracks. I think this beautiful soundtrack deserves a new release from the original recordings, featuring the complete soundtrack in chronological order. It would be wonderful if Intrada could do it. |

it´s after Total Recall and Basic Instinct Goldsmith´s best score from the 90´s and I think the CD sounds OK , but wouldn´t mind to buy it again if released in its original complete form. A great movie too

A 2-CD set with the original film score and the soundtrack album in the Intrada Special Collection at 3000 copies would be sold out in less than 48 hours. |

Who owns the music rights? The film was made by Constellation Entertainment and Douglas/Reuther Productions and distributed by Paramount Pictures and the soundtrack was released by Hollywood Records. |
