I am still loving The Deep. It's still dominating the CD player. And I know there are many, many other composers too.... But being a Barryphile on a high, and noting Roger's comment that anything not already done is not do-able (or words to that effect), I wonder whether the following are at all possible as future releases: Goodbye Lover, the rejected score. (Fully recorded.) (There's an FSM thread about this one right now.) USA Today, the TV score. (Would be repetitive, to be fair, but might be a nice bonus on a two-fer.) Eleanor And Franklin / Eleanor And Franklin: The Whyte House Years. (I can see this one being difficult, but I don't know that's it's not do-able.) Touched By Love. (A very nice TV movie score, a.k.a. "To Elvis, With Love") The Black Hole. Obviously. We know the complete score exists. This one must be desirable. The Legend Of The Lone Ranger. No extra music survives. LP very short. But it is a gem. I'd buy it and I know many others would too. My Sister's Keeper. OK, not exactly "famous" Barry but it's a very interesting score, more interesting than the average bear might think. I'm pretty sure Silva Screen records had the master tapes for this back in the late '80s. Game Of Death expanded. The original album was great, but, like The Deep, I think the complete OST would surprise everyone. The Quiller Memorandum. This is classic Barry. Even a straight LP re-issue must surely be interesting, if well remastered. (Yes, it was released on Varese Sarabande CDs ... TWENTY years ago! ... but it was deleted almost as fast as it came out and is a great rarity. Plus, that Varese CD sounded very hissy. Modern technology must surely be able to do better.) If any of these scores are known to be dead in the water, because of missing masters, licensing issues, etc, please do tell. I won't bother dragging up Boom, The Dove, Raise The Titanic, Walkabout, The Wrong Box, The Tamarind Seed, Night Games, etc. The problems with those titles is well known by now. Cheers |

Also, don't forget Barry's rejected score for 'Year Of The Comet' (1992) |

As a big Barry fan, I'm all for these releases. Especially A Killing Affair (aka My sister's keeper). I believe I heard a clip of it somewhere w while back but it did hold a facination for me. I'd love to have the soundtrack to "Howard The Duck". |

It'll never get released, but I was hugely impressed by his score for the TV movie THE GATHERING. Barry used only a chamber ensemble, but such an apt work. (Interes |

A re-release of Deadfall containing the entire score would be great. |

So in the last several years we've seen King Kong & Body Heat expanded, The Quiller Memorandum, The Black Hole and The Golden Child expanded. Then there is the score for First Love, which I never heard of and I'm a Barry fan. I understand that in Barry's case master tapes seem to have been lost a lot. But, is there really a dearth of material? For me I am surprised that there isn't more of his original work that can be released or even redone. I would take an expanded Peggy Sue Got Married or Indecent Proposal if that meant getting more Barry. It would have been really cool if The Legend of the Lone Ranger was done in time for the release of The Lone Ranger. |
