Another I've long hoped for, the Walter Scharf score for Walking Tall directed by Phil Karlson. Watching The Phenix City Story earlier today on TCM brought to mind this film from the same director. Both examine small town vice and corruption. |

The song from Walking Tall was issued on a 45-rpm single on Columbia Records back in the day. Lyrics by Don Black, vocal by Johnny Mathis. Right now would be a good time for a release of anything by Walter Scharf, since August 1st will be the 100th anniversary of his birth. But it's looking like an event that will pass by unheralded and unnoticed... - JMM. |
