Since Intrada re-issued the JAWS 3-D score (which was a very welcome release, by the way) I would like to hear expanded releases of JAWS 2 and JAWS THE REVENGE.

JAWS 2 had an album release by Varese Sarabande but has been long out of print and there were plenty of missing cues. This is a shame, since the score is one of John Williams' better efforts.

JAWS THE REVENGE had a limited CD release (I think it was strictly promotional) and although the film was not very good, Michael Small's score was impressive and a lot of fun.

In fact, if it were possible to get a boxed set like Film Score Monthly's SUPERMAN set, that would be great.

Sure. They'll be in the mail tomorrow.

Nathan, I second your motion! I've been waiting for a complete score to Jaws 2 for years. When the complete score for Jaws was released, I wondered to myself how much better it would be (some complete scores almost seem to detract from the listening experience). But not with Jaws. In that this is fave film of all time (ties #1 with Citizen Kane), I found the complete score to be spellbinding. Varese's Jaws 2 was good, even great, but I find myself missing the missing cues. For me, Williams score for Jaws 2 absolutely outdoes Jaws. He takes those themes and matures them a bit, in the same ways the main characters have matured. Without Williams at the helm for Jaws 2, the film wouldn't have made it. One of those rare cases where the score is a prominent main character, right up there with Terri the water skier, Cable Junction, the helicopter, and Bruce 2 himself.

And Oh, to have Michael Small's complete score to Jaws The Revenge! What has been released is a mouse's portion, and hardly even hints at some of the most potent pieces of underscore.

I'd take either a Superman-like box set (would love to hear any alternates from Jaws 2, imagine that!), or expanded/complete releases on 2 and 4 on their own.

Chris

Totally agree with everything said.

JAWS 2 is one of William's greatest works ever - an overlooked masterpiece!, suspenseful and sweeping throughout.

JAWS: THE REVENGE does need a long-overdue, proper, CD release.

I think Michael Small's rendition of the JAWS theme, is quite brilliant!.

:)

Do we need a Jaws box set? Yes. Yes, we do.

The original desperately needs a solid re-master, along with a re-release of the album rerecording. Same with Jaws 2. Jaws 3-D has alternate film versions. And Jaws the Revenge needs an official release. This would be a perfect package.

This FSM thread has details on the unreleased music. It'd be nice if we could have Jaws 2 complete and in film order (it was mix and matched much as the album for First Blood was...I wouldn't say no to a re-do of that one either in chronological order).
