Hi everyone: I hope no one minds if I am being a pest again because I posted a topic regarding this release last month ![]() I am hoping Intrada would consider releasing the complete score to THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER by the late Mr. Basil Poledouris. March 1990 was the 20th anniversary of the film release. We were fortunate to have a sdtk release by the former MCA Records label but the CD was alas short: 1. Hymn to Red October (Main Titles) (5:04) 2. Nuclear Scam (7:17) 3. Putin's Demise (0:54) 4. Course Two-Five-Zero (0:21) 5. Ancestral Aid (2:10) 6. Chopper (2:52) 7. Two Wives (2:41)-Not contained in the film 8. Red Route I (3:28)-Album edit 9. Plane Crash (1:46) 10. Kaboom!!! (3:15)-Album edit There's about I say a good 25-30 minutes of great unreleased music. And to be honest the score sounded a lot better in the film especially the expanded versions of "Red Route I" and "Kaboom!!!" I feel kind of awkward providing a possible track list. ![]() ![]() |

I would jump on this bandwagon in a second. HFRO is a movie I saw somewhat recently. I remember noticing the 'music by...' credits and knowing it'd be good, because I didn't collect scores when I first saw it. I DEFINITELY needs an expanded/complete release. |

I'm a little late to this particular party, but I add my name to the list of those who believe this score deserves better than it's OST. A LOT better. - Expand - Remaster - Please ![]() |

The "unmentionable", in this case, should remain "unmentionable", since it's a crappy DVD rip. |

Not only does this great score deserve a complete and remastered release, I think it deserves an unlimited one (like Red Dawn and Quigley Down Under received) as one of the best and highest-profile of Poledouris's career. Unlike Robocop I don't think this one's been overexposed (I'm guessing that's why a limit was put on that one since it was recorded in London so re-use fees shouldn't have been an issue) and a lot of people have been clamoring for it over the years. Now that it seems possible, I hope Intrada is able to pull it off. Yavar |

I've loved that score since I saw the movie and have had a copy since a trip to Washington in the mid-1990s. That was probably the first Poledouris score I'd ever heard at the time and it's remained a favorite for twenty years. A complete & chronological Red October could only be knocked from the #1 slot by a re-issue of The Last Starfighter or The Black Hole. I'll buy this sight unseen within seconds of notification. (Eh, what'm I saying? I'd buy 'em all three at once. I don't suffer from compulsive soundtrack buying; I enjoy every minute of it.) Meanwhile, Flight of the Intruder, please. |
