I saw on the FSM forum that the original Airport and Airport '75 albums are being brought back to CD courtesy of Universal Japan.

Edit: They're cheap, too, so there is not much loss in getting them for the time being before the real deal for each score comes out.

Okay, I checked Screen Archives Entertainment's website this evening and I found that they've got Airport and Airport 1975 listed for pre-order from MCA records "Japan Import". I think they're re-releases of the original albums and don't contain any new material. I doubt the original Airport album is any different that before. Check it out for yourself.

It's great these are being re-released but I was hoping for a better release of Alfred Newman's score to Airport since the album that was released was a re-recording. Airport 1975 though is a great album. Hopefully Airport 77 and 79 will be released in the near future.

re: licenses, do these re-releases mean that we're still a long ways away from one our labels releasing a complete box set?

I understand that, in about a month, AIRPORT and AIRPORT will both be issued on CD (with the same programs as appeared on LP). Does anyone have any further information on this?

The Japanese imports of Airport and Airport 1975 seem to be selling well at Screen Archives. I'd love to have had expanded versions, but I will take whatever I can get.

Man, I'd kill for Cacavas' Airport '77 with the poster art on the front though.

Airport and Airport 75 seem to have disappeared from SAE' listings, does anyone know why?

I didn't realize that was the case otherwise I would have moved sooner

Strange because I don't recall seeing "limited edition" anywhere in the listing and I must of looked at it over two dozen times. From what I've heard '75 wasn't a particularly good master so hopefully they'll see a proper remastered re-release, expanded if applicable.
