| Post subject: | Hardcore (Jack Nitzsche) 1978 |
Hardcore, directed by Paul Schrader, scored by Jack Nitzsche and starring George C. Scott as a Michigan father searching for his runaway daughter in Los Angeles. Hoping for a soundtrack recording since the film was released in 1978. Man it would be great if it finally saw the light of day. Guitarist Ry Cooder participates. I've had dreams about this score. Have mentioned it several times on several forums over the years. As far as I'm concerned, a perfect project for Intrada. |

Until someome shows documented proof the tapes were lost in the firery aftermath of a massive earthquake, I'll continue to consider this a possibility... |

This is close to what I once saw in a dream. A Japanese LP of Jack Nitzsche's score for Paul Schrader's Hardcore, starring George C. Scott, Peter Boyle, Season Hubley and Dick Sargent... I've always felt the casting of Dick Sargent as the brother in law was true genius in filmmaking. Best known for the role of Darrin in Bewitched television series, his role in Hardcore really does enhance the notion of the American dream gone to hell in a handbasket. Love this tragic, unusual film from 1978. If the masters of the exceptional and somewhat brutal score by Jack Nitzsche are gone, it would really be too fuckin' bad, IMO. |

well yeah, that's what i man. is it a fact that the masters are lost or destroyed? or is there hope for this seeing the light of day at some point? |

Twilight Time is releasing HARDCORE on Blu-ray in August, with an isolated score track featuring Jack Nitzsche's original music for the film! |
