Still at Universal, Oliver Nelson provided a western entitled "Death of a Gunfighter" (1969) directed by Don Siegel and an adventure film entitled "Skullduggery" (1970) directed by Gordon Douglas. |

It is confirmed that Universal through TimeLife will release the complete "The Six Million Dollar Man" on DVD on November 2010. So it's about that time for a complete soundtracks release. |

Yeah, it was, wasn't it? Well, the individual seasons are coming out, in the UK as well, so there continues to be some activity. Interestingly The Alpha Caper and Money to Burn were produced for the Saturday night Suspense Movie slot for the Fall '73 season, where the 3 Six Mil movies were playing that season. Those were composed by Gil Mellé and Stu Phillips, of course; these 2 by Nelson were produced by Silverton Productions, Executive Produced by Harve Bennett, and written by Elroy Schwarz, so essentially the series team for The Six Million Dollar Man had already been assembled. A solid list you put up, but I would push for Columbo: The Greenhouse Jungle as well; one of Nelson's best. (you can pick up a 2002 recording called Out of the Depths by the Keystone Wind ensemble which includes "Bossa" from Fugue and Bossa, a 1973 composition derived from the Columbo: TGJ theme). I'll buy any new issue of Nelson's (4 of his albums are still vinyl-exclusives), but particularly these gems from Universal. The quest for the bionic grail continues. |

Hey, I would like to wake this old thread up with a suggested list of episodes for Six Million Dollar Man release: Season 1 Episode 4: "Day of the Robot" - It's impossible to capture more than a few bars of this without the darn robot making 'computer noises' all over it. Episode 13: "Run, Steve, Run" - Some great recuts of the original music during the flashbacks, and when they shoot at the horse rider. Season 2 Episode 1: "Nuclear Alert" - The theme in this episode is used a lot, also in "Steve Austin, Fugitive", et al. Episode 05: "The Seven Million Dollar Man" - When Steve and Barney take on the bad guys....another 2nd season favorite, repeated in other episodes. Episode 10: "Stranger in Broken Fork" - Need I say more, on this one? Episode 11: "The Peeping Blonde" - The track when Steve saves the space launch, and 'Baja Bossa' Episode 17: "Look Alike" - Opening music before Steve fights the goons at the dock...one of my favorites Episode 19-20: "The Bionic Woman" - This episode is like a musical. I love the opening Armored Car Heist track. Season 3 Episode 8: "One of our Running Backs is Missing" - The pick-up football game take on 'Sunday Night Football' is awesome. Episode 13: "Clark Templeton O'Flaherty" - Nelson takes "El Gato" to new heights in this episode. Did I miss anything here? |
