Clint Eastwood´s Firefox is a movie that I like very much and so do I with the beautiful score by Maurice Jarre. Is there any possibility about a score release?

I'd welcome this one as well. The only music i clearly remember from this very underrated movie is Jarre's march to the score. Other than that, i really wonder how much music he did write for this movie in which Eastwood dialed out or flat out out didn't use period. I remember reading somewhere that Jarre had about Eastwood "That he didn't know a thing about music."

I find it that statement very interesting because he's worked other great composers like Michel Legrand, Lalo Schifrin, John Williams, Jarre (of course), and the great Jerry Fielding along with Lennie Niehaus (he might not be great, but definitely underrated in his own right) Eastwood has at least some knowledge of these composers otherwise he wouldn't have hired them or worked with them.

R.I.P. Maurice...hopefully we'll now see a release of his brilliant score to Sunchaser.

"Firefox" would be a great release! Although I´ve never seen Jarre as one of the giants, he has indeed produced a couple of fine scores through the years, along with some less inspired ones.
"Firefox" is one of his better and would fit nicely in my collection.

I would champion a Firefox CD. Though I don't think there is much score to talk of except for a fab end credit. Still I would order without hesitation.

Hi Roger,

That's a real shame. I don't suppose you could elaborate a bit more on the reason why this title may never see the light of day.
I'm assuming it may have something to do with Clint himself but I could be wrong.

Thanks

H

Actually Malpaso is on board just fine. I wasn't given a reason, just that there were reasons it couldn't be licensed.

Thanks for the update Roger.
Maybe the Russians don't want to lose Firefox again  If anything was to change though I'm sure you guys would love to put this one out.

Yes it's one of my holy grails. When Malpaso was on board and we located the elements (which was a challenge), I was very excited. Only to have my dreams dashed!

What a shame, and while maybe you can't speculate or really don't know, perhaps the widow Jarre is blocking it (like Resurrection as well) for some reasons?
Such a waste when these things are scuttled for who knows what...just sitting on reels, unheard work rotting away.
