I'm a little curious that the tenor of this discussion has been on the total absence of a release for this title. Perseverance released this over 7 years. The sonics were absolutely superb. Unsurprisingly as a limited edition it's been out of print for a while (and unsurprisingly the prices have appreciated), so the comments so far seem to infer it was unlicensed. |

"They were? I remember having issue with the sound (a sort of very harshness that makes it hard to listen to on headphones) but it's been quite a few years since I've even owned it." Oh dear, are we going to have a debate on sound quality? I don't know what sound systems the previous two members have, so it is a bit pointless going this route. I personally listen at fairly "uninhibited" playback levels and try to recreate the sort of concert hall perspective that would yield that type of experience (and I have a fair amount of space between the speakers and my chair). I personally would never seriously listen to music on headphones, but each to his own. I personally would rather have a "wet" sound than dry. In my opinion the sound quality heard on the Perseverance SLIPSTREAM is of the same superb standard as on another Elmer Bernstein score recorded by Keith Grant, HEAVY METAL. (Film Score Monthly's release was not unqualified in rendering this score at its best: while for the most part the sound quality is extraordinarily good, it does "fall off" somewhat during the "Taarna" sequence and finale.) |
