Young Guns II: The producers had narrowed it down to Alan Silvestri and Basil Poledouris to score their film. I was working for Morgan Creek at the time and when one of the producers mentioned the two composers, I found myself providing my personal copies of Hunt for Red October, The Abyss and I think Predator. Next thing I know, Silvestri is scoring the film. Later in the process, I was invited to lunch with Mr. Silvestri and the producers, but had to turn it down because it conflicted with my work schedule. Ugh!! Mr. Silvestri was a complete class act and gentleman and I wish I had gotten the opportunity to chew the fat with him, so to speak. In any event, this is a long-winded way of saying I'd LOVE the score to Young Guns II, which was released by Fox, but is probably still owned by Morgan Creek, which is usually territorial about their music and such. Not sure they even HAVE a music label any more. Yeha, it's been a while. |

This morning I was listening to a lovely little score by Alan Silvestri which would definitely deserve a decent release : Overboard (1987) starring Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russel. There are some nice moments : rousing action a la Back to the Future, a charming love theme and a great dose of humor and energy ! Pure 80's Silvestri... |

I know the principle of Out of Phase when applied to Dolby Prologic or for removing the center vocals for karaoke. But how does it apply to Predator 2? Some tracks weren't audible so that they had to use OOPS ? What happened during the recording or the mixing of this score ? How have you detected that ? |
