Since we're having a Barry-fest, how about a release of his score to ? The film was just released today on dvd for the first time as well!

Steve's right about E & F, and Young Joe would be terrific too, but for me the one standout that never gets mentioned is Willa Texas. A superb TV movie score.

The Gathering is another one that is seldom mentioned, but very good, and would make a good pair with say, the just mentioned Inside Moves, as they are both very short compared to today's wall to wall ambient scores. Great to finally have Inside Moves on DVD (thank God for multi-region DVD players), my VHS copy is totally knackered!

While we are at it, how about a complete Midnight Cowboy score CD, all the demos and everything, and the same for Day of the Locust, which contains some of the most unsettling music I have ever heard.

In the wake of the composer's own death I have rediscovered the film of ELEANOR AND FRANKLIN - THE EARLY YEARS and for the first time have seen its sequel ...THE WHITE HOUSE YEARS.

I have loved that main theme of Barry's since the first miniseries aired, but over the decades I had forgotten the depth of its power in dramatic context. Apart from additional, masterful variations of the gorgeous primary melody, the second film contains an excellent stealthy, low-end piano motif tied to the course of World War II.

Until this month, my most-desired among Barry's TV-movie scores would have been the sublime LOVE AMONG THE RUINS. But now a combo release of the ELEANOR AND FRANKLIN music for me becomes a new object of desire!

Any chance of John Barry's rejected scores to 'Year of the Comet' and 'Goodbye Lover' being released this year?.
