I must admit that did run through my mind when typing the prior post. It would be madness (Madness? This is INTRADA!) for a label to even try to touch that nightmare.

I can't find it now, but wasn't Doug listening to the 2cd epic in a recent post, and listed out the brass section? Anyone remember that post?
Moot I guess, we'll know soon - I'm crawling out of my skin for SHOGUN. I'm glad a multi disc set will exist alongside the classic , shorter album , one I've played for an eternity & enjoyed.

Just to pop over here and respond to these last thoughts: Yes, I teased about a massive score with a lot of brass and indeed was feeling ready to move on to my next project from Disney, ironically an equally big project. But to keep everyone on their toes, neither the one I teased about (now completed) nor the subsequent Disney score (currently assembled into a 3-CD set and being mastered as I write) are the projects under discussion in this thread. Yep. That's right. The two titles Roger gives a nod to (both epics in my opinion) are NOT the big projects I alluded to, for Warner Bros. and Disney respectively. Bottom line: Intrada has a number of pretty exciting releases to bring out over the next three months or thereabouts... so stay tuned. --Doug :D

And since you mentioned elsewhere that the composer for tomorrow's release is an Academy Award winner, that makes King Arthur or Troy the most likely without thinking too much about it. I'll go with the former, on suspicion that the tracks in which Moya Brennan contributes may not have been available for licensing.

Okay....if the massive score with a lot of brass is a Warner Bros title and coming between now and year's end, please...Please....PLEASE BE THE PERFECT STORM!

I remember your original review of The Perfect Storm and how you loved how the album was crafted like the movements of a symphony. The score is indeed massive. At the time of release Horner said (as part of an EPK on Entertainment Tonight) that the score was mostly "Strings and brass. It's basically horsepower". Those comments were not part of what became the "Creating an Emotion" featurette on the Perfect Storm DVD which used different segments of the same interview done at the sessions for the cue 'Coast Guard Rescue', specifically the part of the cue where the swordboat does it capsize turnaround and Horner saves the triumphant statement of the main theme (after the dissonant chaos of the boat being capsized by a wave) until after the crew realize they're okay.

It's weird how I remember such details from 17 years ago, but that score was probably the most played CD I ever owned and had to replace it after a while of getting scratched. The electric guitar / brass fanfares...glorious stuff.

If it's not THE PERFECT STORM, then I'm at a loss of what it could possibly be. That score is so deserving of an extended treatment. Well, many scores are, but this one more. ;)
