Intrada revisits an earlier Special Collection release from the 70s. It was a straight reissue then, now it's fully expanded and features better sound since now we had access to the master elements in the studio's vault.

This I would buy in a flash.

The 60s and 70s scores are the ones that grab my attention.

Roger, will Intrada return to two titles per release date or is it just singles from now on? Apologies if this was already addressed elsewhere.

According to the FSM thread, there's actually a lot of possibilities

Quote:
The Andromeda Strain - Gil Mellé
Cinderella Liberty - John Williams
The Day of the Locust - John Barry
Gold - Elmer Bernstein
The Hindenburg - David Shire
The Last Valley - John Barry
Mary, Queen of Scots - John Barry
Old Boyfriends - David Shire
The Organization - Gil Mellé
The Other Side of Midnight - Michel Legrand
Sleuth - John Addison
Swashbuckler - John Addison
Uncle Joe Shannon - Bill Conti

So I suppose its impossible to guess unless Roger gives us another clue.

The Organization would be so great. The old album cut was way too short.
But we need more clues.

I'm crossing my fingers on The Hindenburg thought I can't imagine how much more music is left to include, unless there are unused and alternate cues - which I would gladly welcome. I'll take Hindenburg any day any way, at least if it is, we'll have the final cue without the narration - something I've always wanted to hear.

Honestly just being an expanded score from the 70s it has my vote!

I hope the expanded release is Barry's "The Last Valley".

Barry remains one my favorite composers, and THE LAST VALLEY is maybe -- maybe -- my most favorite of his scores, so I'd be thrilled to get its entirety after 45 years. Shire's complete THE HINDENBURG also would be an instant buy. But merely "a revisit" of "an earlier Special Collection release from the '70s" is not clue enough for me to work up my hopes for either; so when this turns out to be something else, I won't be disappointed. Of course, recently I didn't let myself believe that the time had finally arrived for THE TEN COMMANDMENTS until Roger parted the clouds by posting that glorious rendering of the beautiful box and its contents!

Still, my guess is that with such meager info, this release will be some title that's far more popular. I'm content to check in Monday evening and see.

You're on the right path but it's not Last Valley. It's a film offering a cynical look at a very popular institution.

Could Hollywood be a "very popular institution"? Then THE DAY OF THE LOCUST seems to be a good choice...

Yep,
DAY OF THE LOCUST
is the one.

And if you go reread Doug's Tech Talk from the OOP version, he compares DOTL to Goldsmith's CHINATOWN. So this being reissued in a similar manner makes perfect sense.
