This time around we bring you a two-CD set giving an early 90s action score a facelift. Disc 1 features the complete score in film order. The second disc features the highly creative assembly created by the composer for the first soundtrack album.

Definitely sounds like Hans Zimmer's K2 to me. It's from 1991, and the OST was just two long suite tracks called "The Ascent" and "The Descent", which can certainly be considered a "highly creative" way to release a film score.

Could be many Action Scores, though K2 is more of an adventure/drama, isn't it?
Then again, it was creative to release the score in the US at all given it was replaced by Chaz Jankel's music (in Europe, Zimmer's score was retained).

LAST ACTION HERO (1993) - Michael Kamen... Maybe??!!

I'm going with Backdraft - the film versions, alternates are VERY different and very good. Plus the old RCA
album is missing a lot, sequenced to hell, etc.

K2 is/may/could still be Varese perpetuity.....

It could be Robert Folk's Toy Soldiers or Elliot Goldenthal's Demolition Man

Varese owns Demolition Man in purpituity. It definitely sounds like a Zimmer score to me. K2 is OOP and I believe the rights now belong to Paramount So it's theseable that it could be this one, but I really think and strongly it's probably Backdraft, which is a powerful action score in its' own right.

I know a lot of people including me want a reissue of Toy Soldiers, but with the weird album assembly clue I believe someone in the FSM board just pegged this: Talgorn's Delta Force 2.

DELTA FORCE 2: OPERATION STRANGLEHOLD - Frederick Talgorn
ah, love the score.
Never liked the suite arrangement, so if this IS it, it's a very welcome update!
