Composer Al Capps is sorely underrepresented on CD. His score to CANNONBALL RUN is inconic. Two years later, in 1983, he scored this vehicle, also starring Loni Anderson but with no score on the album this time. It was a fowl situation, but one we at Intrada are not addressing at this time. Just thought I'd get that out there in case people were wondering.

Rather this Tuesday, 1 of 4 makes its appearance in a stunning little 2-CD package, featuring a reissue of the of the original MCA album on one disc, with an added selection of source cues from the film. The second disc is remixed and restored from the original 3-track session masters allowing the film tracks to deliver a thrilling punch unlike anything you've heard from this score before, including a bit of unreleased material and alternates.

I and billions of others were definitely on the edge of our seats wondering about Stroker Ace.

Jaws ain't so bad, either. Or at least I think so; it's a film about a killer badger, correct?

You, sir, are a goofball!

So incredible that Jaws is coming out in remastered form (will the album recording also be remastered?)

I'm holding off my order for JAWS 2 to get JAWS along with it. :-)

If its Jaws then that great news but I wish Jaws and Jaws 2 had been a double announcement, that way I could've ordered both together.

Totally awesome to have all 4 Jaws movies under one label & in the same year.
Saved the best for last too IMHO

I also hope you do have some Al Capps up your sleeve.

Cannonball Run, Cannonball Run II & Stroker Ace would be most welcome.

I keep toying with the idea of Cannonball Run. I haunted record stores for a few years back in the early 80s looking for it. No Internet then, so no idea there was a Japanese LP. I just don't know how well it would sell. Great title song though. Comedies are just tough.

I'd get a plane to Oakland and hug you if you could put out Smokey and the Bandit.

WONDERFUL NEWS!!!

Interesting arrangement of the discs. Quite a departure from the original format of complete score on disc 1, MCA album on disc 2. Any particular reason?

I am assuming - as the wording of the clue is a bit different as well, that disc 2 will feature the complete score (unreleased and alternates)?

This is so exciting!!!!

I'm sure it'll be mentioned when released, but just to be sure -- is the album a different recording than the OST like has been claimed? I've never seen a straight answer on that.

What do you mean you've never seen a straight answer on that?

The LP is absolutely and definitively a complete different recording than the film tracks, recorded after the film's scoring sessions. It was recorded in a different studio, by a different engineer, with a different ensemble of LA musicians (many players were the same of course, notably Tommy Johnson on Tuba).

To give you a straight answer on that: yes it is a complete rerecording. Even the few tracks appearing without major changes or extensions are a distinct recording

The fact that Decca put "* / **" markings for "previously unreleased" music has always been inaccurate. The entire CD was 100% previously unreleased.

OK it is Jaws. But the gag of Canonball Run 1 and 2 made me mad. I wait for years for these two titles. More than a new Jaws. Never mind. :|

The Cannonball Soundtrack can be fun. But I really hope "Smokey and the Bandit" will ever get a CD release. And I'd really like the CD program with the dialogue included. The LP program was perfect.
