One Special Collection title. A reissue of an early 80s thriller. This one took a long time because initially all we could find was the album master, but we really wanted to expand it. Finally, after extensive searching we found the 24-track masters of everything but the main and end title. The LP master was a little reverby, but everything else is now heard in crisp, detailed sound -- and much longer. Probably the most important work that emerged from this famous composer/director relationship.

Dressed to Kill immediately came to mind, as its earlier release is definitely echoey in sound. But, Carrie is widely regarded as the combo's most important work.

This is what I quickly came up with from looking at this list

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fi ... aborations

Carter Burwell - Blood Simple (184)
Pino Donnagio - Dressed to Kill (1980), Blow Out (1981), Body Double (1984)
Alex North - Under the Volcano (1984)
Basil Poledouris - Red Dawn (1984)

Carrie was mentioned not as a possibility, which it isn't, but because it entered a tiny bit of second guessing with regard to the "most important work" comment. That said, I can see someone viewing Dressed to Kill as the duo's most important work artistically despite Carrie's extreme popularity and amazingly effective combination of score and imagery.

But, yes, we should look forward to Dressed to Kill on Monday night. Intrada definitely has my money despite already owning the Varese CD. It's primo Pino.

Lord, please let the speculation be correct here. DRESSED TO KILL is one of the defining scores of the modern era. It's been a while since I saw the (phenomenal) movie, so I don't recall there being tons of score that didn't make it to the LP. If so, then what a treat... Pino's peerless scoring of the museum sequence alone would be worth the price of entry.

If it is Dressed To Kill, it would be my favorite soundtrack release since Intrada's Body Double.

:D

Dressed to Kill would be an awesome upgrade from the Varese and a title I happily revisit againintrada style...
But what about if it could be PSYCHO 2 (1983) Goldsmith/Franklin and this needs a longer release and IS the most important collaboration of this director/composer duo (well they did LINK together too  )...

Anyway I´m throwing out a bone here and it sounds more like Donaggio/DePalma and that Shower theme to the naked and beautiful Angie Dickinson...This is a great movie with a oh so great score by Mr Donaggio, and Psycho 2 can wait, I rather see that a Donaggio title is released than another Goldsmith anyway as he has gotten to much love around already this year which Pino hasn´t...

See, as much as I would love for it to be Dressed to Kill, I'm thinking it will probably be Psycho II which would also make me VERY happy! Either way, it's gonna ROCK!

It has to be DRESSED TO KILL as that composer/director relationship is famous.

Richard Franklin and Jerry Goldsmith only did two films.
And wasn't Goldsmith imposed on Franklin for PSYCHO II by Universal??
…as his (Franklin's) previous films were scored by Brian May.

In similar fashion, George Miller was forced to work with Maurice Jarre on MAD MAX 3.

Only one problem , that wasn't Angie. Some womens group raised a stink about that scene, women will always find something to complain about.

Weird disturbing opening scene, come to think of it I threw out a bone myself.

At Roger's clue, my first thought was PSYCHO II. But Roger had posted recently in a different thread that their next Goldsmith release won't be until July or August, so Donaggio's explanded DRESSED TO KILL remains very likely.

And should we pity all those poor film directors who ever had to endure Jerry Goldsmith being "imposed" on their pictures? :( (Despite the number of third-rate movies I've sat through only to appreciate those scores in narrative context!)
